Making New Friends

After spending a few days in Las Vegas we decided that we could use a little break from all the heat.

So we decided to head across to the California coast…

We thought about staying in Santa Barbara but the hotel rooms were pretty expensive there so we decided to stop for the night in Ventura instead.

We ended up staying at the La Quinta Inn and Suites in Ventura which was reasonably priced given the area. Our room at La Quinta was fairly large which was nice because it gave me plenty of new places to explore. The mom said that our shower didn’t work quite right, and that half the water went up to the shower head and the other half filled the bath tub, but other than that the place wasn’t too bad. Fortunately the shower wasn’t an issue for me because I am a kitty…hehe…

After checking out of the La Quinta Inn and Suites we continued our way up the coast.

There were several different look outs on our drive and we stopped off at a few of them to take some pictures.

At one of the look outs, I made several new friends…

From the minute we parked the car these furry, little, creatures ran up to us. I later learned from the Mommy that these creatures were called squirrels. The squirrels at the look out we stopped at were quite plump and it appeared as though they were rather use to getting fed by strangers given the way they ran up to the car and held their little paws out. I thought that this was rather funny, but the Mommy later informed me that it was probably bad for the squirrels because they were becoming too tame and dependent on humans…

In addition to the squirrels I also became friends with what I later learned was a sea gull. The seagull was quite interesting. He sat perched on top of a rock taking the sites in. He didn’t seem to be bothered by my new squirrel friends who ran all around him going from this car to that in search of people who were willing to give them food.  With that said, after spending a few minutes taking in the fresh ocean air and chatting with my new friends, we hoped back in the car and continued on our way.
